Portuguese artist Bordalo II has made a striking intervention in Lisbon's public space with a giant advertisement at Cais das Colunas in Terreiro do Paço, boldly stating "Lisbon for Sale".
On social media, the artist elaborated: "Excellent opportunity. A city of old charm, with great year-round sun exposure and recently renovated with luxury details. Located in a premium area of the Iberian Peninsula, it offers a stunning view of the Tagus River and easy access to deluxe restaurants and commerce."
"Ideal for those who want to enjoy a vibrant, cosmopolitan, and gentrified environment. A dream opportunity in a city where most can't even dream of living," the artist added.
Every detail was meticulously planned: the advertisement even includes a phone number—that of the Lisbon City Council's Habitar program.
This intervention comes at a time when house prices in Lisbon have surged by 17.7% in June compared to the same period last year, marking the highest increase since 2022.
