A man involved in the 2011 murder of a mechanic in Castanheira do Ribatejo has been arrested by the PSP in Olivais, Lisbon.
According to sources, the 37-year-old was part of a group that carried out several robberies and carjackings in the Lisbon region between 2009 and 2011. While his accomplices were tried and convicted, he fled to Cape Verde, only returning to Portugal recently under the mistaken belief he was no longer wanted.
The suspect, who has a criminal record and a pending extradition request from another country, has been remanded in custody at Lisbon's prison. He awaits trial for homicide and robbery charges.
