Lisbon Immigration Operations Reveal Widespread Irregularities
In just one week in Lisbon alone, the PSP (Public Security Police) inspected 195 foreign citizens as part of their recently assumed security functions. According to the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, between September 20 and 26, "several inspection actions were carried out" that resulted in significant enforcement measures.
Key Enforcement Actions Documented
The operations led to eight notifications for Voluntary Abandonment of National Territory, two notifications for AIMA (Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum), one notice of offense for regulatory violations, two detentions for illegal stay, and the execution of three precautionary measures from the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS).
Additional Violations Uncovered
During these operations, PSP officers also issued three additional notices of offense for:
- Failure to issue invoices
- Irregular video surveillance
- Smoking ban violations
Contraband Seizures
Authorities seized 13 items related to illegal gambling and 128 counterfeit articles, highlighting the broader scope of these enforcement actions beyond immigration control.
These coordinated efforts demonstrate PSP's intensified focus on immigration enforcement and regulatory compliance in Portugal's capital city.
