Lisbon PSP Arrests Drunk Prison Guard Brandishing Firearm Near Nightclub
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Lisbon's Public Security Police (PSP) detained a prison guard near the Lust in Rio nightclub after he was found brandishing a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. The arrest also involved allegations of resisting and coercing police officers.
The incident unfolded around 6:15 AM following reports of a disturbance between two groups in the nightclub's parking lot. Upon arrival, officers noticed the guard displaying signs of intoxication and holding a firearm, suspected to be his service weapon. Portuguese firearm laws mandate the arrest of anyone wielding a weapon under the influence of alcohol, regardless of its legal status.
The individual was taken to a PSP facility, where he was identified, formally charged, and subsequently released. As of now, there are no reports of further altercations or additional arrests related to the incident.
