Lisbon's cultural landscape is set to dazzle with two significant events this week. The city announces the opening of the Contemporary Art Collection Space – Lisbon Culture in Belém and the reopening of the Puppet Museum in Madragoa, marking a vibrant period for art enthusiasts.
Contemporary Art Collection Space Opens in Belém
On June 26, the Contemporary Art Collection Space – Lisbon Culture will open its doors at Avenida da Índia, nº 170, in Belém. Curated by Sara Antónia Matos and Pedro Faro, the inaugural exhibition, "Who Where / Quem Onde", showcases around 50 pieces from 30 artists, highlighting the diversity and conceptual breadth of Lisbon's municipal contemporary art collection. This space will host a series of temporary exhibitions, offering free access to over 200 pieces by 130 artists.
Puppet Museum Reopens with New Exhibits
The Puppet Museum reopens on June 27 with a revamped exhibition circuit that emphasizes Portugal's puppet tradition. New additions include the centuries-old Bonecos de Santo Aleixo and the Dom Quixote Altarpiece. The museum, located in the former Convent of Bernardas on Rua da Esperança, nº 146, has undergone extensive conservation work, restoring over 150 pieces. The reopening weekend features free entry, outdoor Teatro Dom Roberto performances, family workshops, and guided tours by the museum's director.
