In a move that can be seen as a political victory for the CDS party, the Portuguese government has approved the creation of a commission to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the November 25th event. Minister of Defense Nuno Melo will be responsible for appointing the president of this commission, which is intended to be non-partisan and will operate until May of next year.
Additionally, in the aftermath of the major fires in recent weeks, the Council of Ministers has also made decisions aimed at preparing for future extreme weather events, such as floods.
