Braga Crime Unfolds
A 36-year-old man from Porto has been arrested by the Judicial Police of Braga on suspicion of aggravated robbery and kidnapping in a case dating back to February of this year.
Investigation Reveals Criminal History
In a statement sent to O MINHO this morning, the PJ revealed that investigative efforts "allowed the identification of one of the perpetrators of the facts, a 36-year-old man, resident in Porto, with an extensive criminal record who has already served a prison sentence."
Failed Business Deal as Motive
According to the PJ, the crimes appear to have originated from a failed business deal related to the purchase of a vehicle and car parts at the scrapyard in question.
Violent Abduction Details
The events occurred in February when the victim, an 83-year-old man, after leaving the scrapyard he owns, was hit by a vehicle that immobilized the car he was traveling in.
At that moment, another car appeared from which several hooded individuals emerged, one of them brandishing a firearm. They grabbed the victim by the arms and, against his will, placed him inside one of the vehicles, covering his vision.
Demands and Threats
In this context, they demanded that he hand over money, provide the access code to a safe, and surrender his house keys.
Abandonment and Escape
Approximately an hour and a half later, after driving continuously in areas near the victim's home, the suspects abandoned him in Martim, Braga, fleeing to an unknown location.
Legal Proceedings
The detained individual was presented to the competent judicial authorities at the DIAP of Guimarães and was subjected to the coercive measure of preventive detention.
