Thirteen districts across Portugal are under a yellow weather alert today, as the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts heavy showers, possibly hail, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong wind gusts.
Affected Districts and Timings
- Évora, Beja, and Portalegre: Alert until 3 PM today.
- Castelo Branco and Coimbra: Alert until 9 PM today.
- Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, and Braga: Alert until midnight Wednesday.
Understanding the Yellow Alert
A yellow alert, the least severe on a three-level scale, is issued when there's a potential risk to certain activities dependent on weather conditions.
Temperature Outlook
Despite the current unsettled weather, temperatures are expected to rise gradually from Thursday, with increases of up to 10 degrees Celsius by the weekend. Some regions may see highs of 40 degrees Celsius.
