The Incident

Daniel Galhanas was fatally injured when he intervened to protect a friend during a brawl involving a group of English nationals. The altercation escalated when the aggressor used a broken glass bottle as a weapon. The entire incident was captured on amateur video.

Investigation and Arrest

The aggressor and his companions fled the scene immediately after the attack, leaving the weapon behind. They caught a flight back to London the same day. The Lisbon Homicide Squad took over the case, facing challenges such as the absence of DNA evidence. Investigators relied on surveillance footage and witness testimony to identify the suspect.

International Cooperation

With the help of the Metropolitan Police, the UK's largest investigative police force, the suspect was identified and arrested in the London metropolitan area about three months ago.
