A shocking revelation has emerged as an Israeli sniper, Dani Adega, was photographed and located in Lisbon this month. The Hind Rajab Foundation, a Belgian organization, has filed a criminal complaint with the Lisbon Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP), urging the arrest of Adega. The complaint, submitted by Portuguese human rights lawyer Carmo Afonso, is backed by extensive documentation gathered over several months.
The foundation alleges that Adega was involved in serious violations of international law, including the selective killing of civilians during a ceasefire and the appropriation of civilian property for military use. "This is not just a matter of justice for Gaza. It's a test for Portugal," stated the foundation's spokesperson. "Adega is not hiding. He's walking freely in a European capital after boasting about killings during a ceasefire. Portugal needs to act."
Dani Adega is affiliated with the 8114th Battalion of the Israeli Army and, according to the foundation, served in the Gaza Strip under the 252nd Division, commanded by Brigadier General Yehuda Vach. Adega's social media activity has further fueled the controversy, with posts allegedly glorifying his actions, including one on Instagram captioned, "4 rounds, zero misses."
This post appeared in early 2025, coinciding with a temporary ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. During this period, approximately 170 Palestinian civilians lost their lives, with the foundation claiming Adega was responsible for many of these documented deaths.
The complaint is part of a broader campaign by the Hind Rajab Foundation to hold Israeli military personnel accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed since the outbreak of war in 2023.
