University Rectors Argue Against Generalizing 'University' Title for All Higher Education Institutions

There's "a great convergence" among rectors regarding the government's proposal to transform polytechnic institutes, both public and private, into "polytechnic universities," states Paulo Ferreira, president of the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP). The rectors' stance on this issue can be summarized in a few words: "It does not serve the country's interest."
