Two tourists, aged 27 and 29, were discovered deceased in the swimming pool of an aparthotel in Albufeira, Algarve, early this Tuesday morning, July 15th.
The alarm was raised at approximately 4:40 AM, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. Despite attempts at resuscitation upon arrival, their efforts were unsuccessful.
A source from the Albufeira GNR confirmed to PÚBLICO that the victims were two foreign men. No signs of criminal activity have been identified at this stage.
The scene was attended by Albufeira Firefighters, the Judicial Police (PJ), INEM, and GNR personnel. The PJ has taken over the investigation.
According to a statement from the Judicial Police cited by Lusa news agency, preliminary indications suggest that both men were intoxicated. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact causes of death.
