A 24-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police in Torres Vedras, suspected of the aggravated rape of a 13-year-old minor inside a commercial establishment. The crime occurred on July 13.
According to a statement from the Judicial Police, the suspect used physical force and was armed with a white weapon to coerce the child into entering the establishment where he worked, subsequently committing the rape.
The minor reported the incident to his mother, who then took him to the local hospital. He was later transferred to a reference hospital in Lisbon, where the rape was confirmed. Investigative efforts at the scene and evidence collected by the Judicial Police's Scientific Police Laboratory provided material evidence strongly implicating the 24-year-old man as the perpetrator of the rape.
The suspect has been placed in preventive detention.
