Portuguese police have renewed their search efforts in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, a British child who vanished over 18 years ago. The focus is on an area near the Praia da Luz resort in Portugal’s Algarve region, where Madeleine was last seen in May 2007.

This operation follows a legal order from German authorities, who are investigating Christian Brückner, a German man suspected of involvement in Madeleine's disappearance. The Polícia Judiciária confirmed the searches, which began on Monday and are set to conclude by Friday, with all findings to be shared with German police.

Police search in Algarve

Christian Brückner, currently serving a prison sentence in Germany for a 2005 rape in Praia da Luz, is the prime suspect. Despite his denials, German prosecutors believe he may have killed Madeleine. The case, treated as a murder inquiry in Germany, remains a missing person investigation in the UK.

Madeleine's family continues to seek answers, emphasizing their unwavering determination to uncover the truth. The investigation has spanned over a decade, with Brückner only emerging as a suspect after new information surfaced in 2017.
