  • Montenegro warns against waking up to a government formed by opposing parties, referencing the 2015 left-wing agreement

  • The appeal was made during a meeting with local officials in Pombal, Leiria, focusing on the need for governability

  • The AD coalition (PSD/CDS-PP) seeks to secure a majority to prevent political instability

  • Montenegro hints at the same political partners being involved, suggesting a potential for history to repeat itself

PSD leader Luís Montenegro has made a dramatic appeal for mobilization ahead of the upcoming elections, urging voters to ensure stability and avoid a repeat of the 2015 scenario where the winning coalition did not form the government.

During a lunch with local officials in Pombal, Leiria, Montenegro emphasized the need for stability and governability for the AD coalition (PSD/CDS-PP). He called on the network of local authorities to help secure these conditions in the next two Sundays of voting.

Montenegro reminded the audience of the 2015 elections, where despite the PSD/CDS coalition's victory, the PS formed the government through a left-wing agreement. He warned, "The partners are the same," hinting at the potential for a similar outcome if voter turnout does not favor the AD coalition.
