The blackout on April 28th, which left Portugal and Spain without electricity for over ten hours, originated in the provinces of Granada, Seville, and Badajoz, according to Spanish Minister for Ecological Transition, Sara Aagesen.
Speaking in the Spanish parliament, the minister identified these three regions as the starting points of the issue that led to the widespread power outage, as reported by El País.
While the hearing with the minister is not expected to disclose the exact causes of the blackout—since the commission established by the Spanish government is still gathering information—it is anticipated that new data will be presented.
These provinces are notable for their significant presence of photovoltaic energy, among other forms of power generation, the Spanish newspaper highlights.
Minister Aagesen assured that the problem was neither related to reserve nor network coverage issues.
