The Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation (MECI) has proposed an increase in support for teachers who are relocated more than 70 kilometers from their homes, especially in areas with a significant shortage of educators. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance ranging from 165 to 500 euros, benefiting approximately 8,000 professionals across the nation.
The estimated investment for this program is around 25 million euros.
This move is part of the government's effort to address the challenges faced by educators in underprivileged regions, ensuring that students in these areas have access to quality education. The proposal was presented to unions on Monday, marking a significant step towards improving the working conditions of teachers in Portugal.
