Delta Air Lines Announces New Porto Service for Summer 2026
Delta Air Lines is expanding its European network with a new nonstop route from New York City to Porto, Portugal, set to launch in May 2026. This marks the airline's seventh new European route for the summer season, reinforcing its commitment to growth.
The service will operate from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft equipped with the latest "76K" configuration. This includes premium cabins such as Delta One suites and Delta Premium Select, offering travelers enhanced comfort on the transatlantic journey.
Paul Baldoni, Delta's senior vice president of network planning, stated, "Whether discovering Portugal or traveling to our other new destinations such as Sardinia and Malta, these additions expand choice for our customers and reinforce JFK's role as a leading global gateway."
Portugal's Travel Boom Continues
Porto, known for its historic charm and as the home of port wine, is experiencing a surge in popularity. Data from Cirium shows a 76% increase in flights from the U.S. to Porto Airport (OPO) compared to 2023, highlighting the growing demand.
While United Airlines and Tap Air Portugal already serve Porto from other U.S. hubs, Delta's new route will be the first nonstop service from JFK, providing unique access for New York-based travelers.

The Boeing 767-300 used for this route features:
