Early Beginnings and Musical Influences
Elisa was born in 1999 on the island of Madeira and began singing at the young age of 7. From her childhood, she recalls her father introducing her to music from great classics like The Beatles, Ray Charles, Queen, ABBA, and The Eagles, among others. This early exposure sparked a special interest in the music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
Career Development and Jazz Passion
She participated in several regional festivals and, at 13 years old, started singing in projects and performing concerts around the island. Her love for jazz emerged at 17, leading her to take a Jazz Course at the Conservatory of Madeira. In 2018, she moved to Lisbon to continue her studies and began composing original songs, launching her solo career shortly after.
Breakthrough with Festival da Canção and Eurovision
Everything started with the Festival da Canção 2020. The song 'Medo de Sentir' marked her debut, which led to a major victory at the festival and earned her a spot in Eurovision 2020. Unfortunately, the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Concurrently, she signed a record deal with Warner Music, which accelerated the release of her original tracks and culminated in her first album, 'No meu Canto', at the end of 2021.
Recent Projects and Future Plans
While working on her next album of originals, Elisa recently released the songs 'Asas' and 'É a tua vez', the latter with lyrics authored by Nena.
