Hurricane Gabrielle Approaches Azores
Hurricane Gabrielle is weakening as it moves toward the Azores, but the storm is still expected to bring heavy rain and damaging winds when it impacts the islands later on Thursday.
According to the US National Hurricane Center, as of 6 a.m. UK time, the storm was generating sustained wind speeds of 140 kilometers (87 miles) per hour and was located approximately 1,225 kilometers west of the Azores.
