Flight Diverted to Lisbon Due to Passenger Threats
A 34-year-old man was detained by the PSP (Public Security Police) at Lisbon Airport after forcing a flight to divert its route and land in the Portuguese capital. The incident occurred due to threats and assaults against crew members, putting the safety of the aircraft at risk.
Police Intervention Details
The police intervention took place at 10:02 AM on Tuesday. According to a statement from the Lisbon PSP, the passenger disregarded crew instructions during the flight and consumed alcohol after being warned not to. He even attempted to assault a crew member, endangering the aircraft, crew, and other passengers.
Aftermath and Legal Proceedings
Upon entering the aircraft, PSP officers found the 34-year-old man restrained by the crew. Due to being intoxicated and suspected of drug use, as well as sustaining hand injuries from the handcuffing by police, the detainee required medical assistance at São José Hospital. He was later presented in court and issued a Term of Identity and Residence.
