Five individuals have been arrested and another 10 identified in connection with railway vandalism, specifically for spray-painting graffiti at the Campolide and Alverca do Ribatejo train stations in Lisbon. The PSP (Public Security Police) disclosed the operation's results this Saturday.
The Operation Details
According to the PSP, the suspects, aged between 21 and 44, were caught in the act on August 2 and 6. They face charges for trespassing and property damage due to their graffiti activities on railway rolling stock at the mentioned stations.
Seized Items
In a significant haul, authorities confiscated:
- 158 spray cans of various colors
- 80 spray nozzles
- 7 pairs of latex gloves
- 4 balaclavas
- Among other items, including 5,072 doses of liamba (a form of cannabis)
The five detained individuals have been summoned to appear before the Public Ministry at the Vila Franca de Xira Court.
Ongoing Vigilance
The PSP emphasized its continuous and rigorous surveillance over Lisbon's public transport networks to ensure passenger safety and property protection. This operation marks a step in dismantling railway vandalism groups.
