Proposals from the PSD, CDS, and PCP regarding the Social Mobility Subsidy were approved this afternoon in a vote at the Portuguese Parliament.
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) has recommended the Government to finalize the implementation of a single digital platform for managing the Social Mobility Subsidy for residents in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. This platform would ensure that passengers only pay the net amount of the legally set fare at the time of ticket purchase, eliminating the need for advance payments or subsequent reimbursements.
Additionally, the PSD has urged the Government to monitor and evaluate the practical application of this new model. This includes regular consultations with representatives from the Autonomous Region of Madeira, transport operators, and users to introduce improvements as necessary.
The proposal, signed by Madeira's three elected deputies—Pedro Coelho, Vânia Jesus, and Paulo Neves—advocates for the digital platform to become a reality, ensuring residents only pay the amount corresponding to the mobility subsidy.
The vote saw support from PSD, CDS, and PCP, opposition from BE, PAN, and Chega, and abstention from JPP.
