Tragic Incident: Taxi Driver Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run of Student in Lisbon

Arrest Made in Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident

The taxi driver responsible for the tragic death of Afonso Gonçalves, a student from Guimarães studying in Lisbon, has been arrested by the PSP (Public Security Police) late Tuesday afternoon.

After conducting extensive investigations with the vehicle's owner, authorities were able to confirm the driver's identity at the time of the incident. Confession of the hit-and-run was made by the driver, shedding light on the unfortunate event.

The vehicle involved, which sustained significant damage including front-end and windshield issues, was found parked at Praça Eduardo Mondlane and has since been seized by the police, as it is believed to be connected to the fatal incident.
