The announcement of Centeno's successor is expected by next Thursday, following the Council of Ministers meeting. Montenegro emphasized the need for a competent individual who fulfills the central bank's duties, hinting that Centeno 'meets all the requirements' for the role.
Despite previous tensions between Centeno and the AD government, Centeno has expressed his willingness to continue, aiming for a second term. The final decision, however, hinges on parliamentary approval, with the Assembly of Republic set to review the candidate before the summer recess.
