A sea turtle, after two months of recovery at Zoomarine, was successfully returned to the ocean off the Algarve coast with the help of the Navy. The turtle was found in a weakened state, having ingested plastic waste, a stark reminder of the growing pollution in our oceans.
The rescue and rehabilitation of this marine creature highlight the critical work done by marine biologists and veterinarians. The turtle's condition was a direct result of ingesting various plastic fragments, underscoring the urgent need for ocean conservation efforts.
The operation to return the turtle to its natural habitat was carried out with the logistical and operational support of the NRP Sagitário, showcasing the collaborative efforts between conservationists and the Portuguese Navy to protect marine life.
