Five men were caught red-handed by the PSP after robbing a grocery store and assaulting its owner in Pontinha, Odivelas. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM last Sunday at a store located at the intersection of Olivença and Cidade da Horta streets.
The Incident
The suspects, aged between 20 and 25, entered the store and were caught stealing products. The owner, a Bangladeshi immigrant, chose not to confront them inside. Instead, he waited for them to leave before approaching them outside, where he was brutally assaulted with punches and kicks and robbed of his mobile phone.
Quick Police Response
Several witnesses alerted the PSP, who acted swiftly. Patrols from the local police station detained the five men nearby. They were found in possession of stolen goods, including drinks, food items, tobacco, and the shop owner's mobile phone.
Aftermath
The shop owner suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hospital Beatriz Ângelo in Loures for treatment. The five suspects are now in custody, facing charges for robbery and assault.
