Alexandra Leitão, a socialist, announced this morning on Antena 1 that the PS, Livre, Bloco de Esquerda, and PAN aim to present a progressive alternative for the city. A joint candidacy will be signed and introduced tomorrow at noon at the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara.
"I confirm this broad coalition," Leitão stated, highlighting the lack of affordable housing, sustainable mobility, and the quality of public spaces as key priorities for the upcoming municipal elections. Notably, the coalition does not include the PCP.
Leitão emphasized that the agreement is based on clear programmatic lines, adding, "This coalition will be presented, and the agreement signed tomorrow at noon at the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara."
Following Carlos Moedas' announcement of a Lisbon candidacy uniting PSD, CDS-PP, and IL, Leitão assured that this coalition is "not an agreement based on positions or against anyone, merely a response to another right-wing agreement."
When questioned about the actions of socialist Ricardo Leão, the mayor of Loures, who has faced criticism for demolishing shacks in the Talude neighborhood, Leitão refrained from commenting. However, she stressed that as a mayor, she would approach such issues with "humanism," noting, "The law states that illegal occupations are to be removed, and this should be done by finding solutions for the people."
