The third stage of Residência de João Rodrigues is set to enchant the Algarve on September 6 and 7, blending international culinary excellence with the rich local pantry. This edition shines a spotlight on Karime Lopez, the first Mexican woman to earn a Michelin star, making her debut in Portugal alongside João Rodrigues and David Barata, the chef behind the acclaimed Austa in Almancil.
A Journey Through Algarve's Culinary Landscape
The event promises an immersive experience, starting with direct engagement with the region's producers and artisans. Highlights include visits to Sagres' fishing communities, Salmarim, Ria Formosa, Olhão Market, and meetings with local ceramists, culminating in stimulating dinners that celebrate the fusion of diverse gastronomic cultures.
Karime Lopez: A Culinary Pioneer
Karime Lopez, at the helm of Gucci Osteria in Florence since 2018, has crafted a unique culinary language that marries Mexican roots with Italian and Japanese influences. Her innovative approach earned her the historic Michelin star in 2019, marking a milestone for Mexican women in gastronomy.
David Barata: Embracing the Algarve's Spirit
David Barata, a nature enthusiast with a profound connection to Portugal's agricultural heritage, brings his expertise from Michelin-starred kitchens to the Algarve. His work at Austa reflects a deep respect for national products, complemented by his foraging and fishing adventures along Sagres' wild beaches.

What's Next for Residência?
