Quinta Grande Records Highest Temperature of the Year
This Thursday, the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) experienced unusually high temperatures, with the Quinta Grande weather station recording a scorching 31.1°C by 11:40 AM. This figure not only surpasses yesterday's peak at Chão do Areeiro but also marks the highest temperature recorded this year by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) in RAM.

Other Areas Also Feel the Heat
- Monte saw temperatures exceed 30°C, reaching 30.1°C by 11:50 AM.
- Santo da Serra and Pico Alto weren't far behind, with temperatures climbing to 29.5°C and 29.3°C, respectively, by late morning.
Significant Thermal Variation Across the Region
The lowest maximum temperature recorded by noon was in Ponta de São Jorge, at a comparatively mild 23.0°C, highlighting the region's diverse microclimates.
