Madeira experienced scorching temperatures this Thursday, with several stations surpassing 30°C. The standout was Quinta Grande, reaching a blistering 31.9°C, marking the highest temperature in the region this year and setting a new record for 2025. This surpasses the previous day's high of 31.0°C at Chão do Areeiro.
Record-Breaking Heat
The historical maximum temperature for July in the region remains 37.7°C, recorded in Funchal in 2004. Chão do Areeiro's July record is 31.8°C from 2007, while Quinta Grande's peak was 36.2°C in 2012. Pico do Areeiro, with records since 2014, saw its second-highest July temperature yesterday at 31.5°C, just shy of its record.

- Prazeres and Monte: 30.8°C
- Ponta do Sol/Lugar de Baixo: 30.0°C
- Santo da Serra: 29.7°C
- Chão do Areeiro: 29.4°C
- Pico Alto: 29.3°C
- Pico do Areeiro: 29.1°C
The coolest spot was Ponta de São Jorge at 24.0°C.

Ricardo Tavares, regional delegate of IPMA in Madeira, notes these temperatures confirm a trend towards higher readings, especially in mid to high-altitude areas, though still below July's historic highs.
