Four Algarve Startups to Represent Region at Europe's Premier Tech Event

Four Algarve-based startups have received the prestigious "Impact Startup" seal and are preparing to represent the Algarve at Web Summit Lisbon 2025 - Europe's largest technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship conference.

Algarve Empreende 2026

Strategic Selection Through Algarve Empreende 2026

As part of the Algarve Empreende 2026 project, promoted by ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs and co-financed by the Algarve 2030 Regional Programme, 24 startups were selected to represent the regional ecosystem at the Web Summit. These startups are integrated into the Startup Island Algarve Tech Hub initiative, granting them access to a collective exhibition space and an exclusive presentation day at the event.

The Impact Startup Distinction

Among the selected startups, four Algarve companies received special recognition from Web Summit with the "Impact Startup" seal. This distinction honors projects with strong social, environmental, or economic impact components, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Meet the Distinguished Startups

🔹 Invisible CFO

The only Portuguese fintech recognized as an "Impact Startup" in 2025, Invisible CFO develops a hybrid financial management platform for SMEs that combines artificial intelligence with personalized human advice. The company has already supported dozens of businesses in transitioning to more informed and sustainable management and is preparing for international expansion with new public funding support.

🔹 AuroraMed

This Algarve-based healthtech creates AI-based solutions for the healthcare sector, focusing on clinical decision support systems, interoperability between healthcare units, and medical data protection. The company is currently developing a "Digital Twin" of health - a digital replica of each patient's clinical state - with the potential to revolutionize personalized medicine.

🔹 ExpressTec

A spin-off from the University of Algarve, ExpressTec operates in the biotechnology sector and develops diagnostic tests based on RNA and artificial intelligence, focusing on personalized treatment of oncological diseases. Their main product, expressPIK, identifies mutations in breast tumors with high precision, helping doctors make more effective therapeutic decisions. The startup has already received several international awards and is preparing to scale its technology.

🔹 FarmAssist

Focused on therapeutic adherence, FarmAssist offers a complete and personalized pharmaceutical support service with home deliveries, prescription renewals, appointment scheduling, and therapeutic plan monitoring. Through a "FarmaKit" delivered to users, the startup ensures each patient follows their treatment correctly, promoting better health outcomes, especially among aging populations and those with limited mobility.

Strategic Opportunity for Regional Innovation

The presence of these startups at Web Summit Lisbon 2025 represents a strategic opportunity to position Algarve talent and innovation on a global stage. Beyond being a showcase, this participation represents a concrete step in the mission of Algarve Empreende 2026: supporting the creation of innovative companies, strengthening the region's entrepreneurial capacity, and connecting the local ecosystem to international innovation networks.
