Tragic Loss in Vagos
Susana Gravato, a councilor at the Vagos Municipal Council, has died at the age of 49, as confirmed by the outgoing president of the municipality in the Aveiro district.
Community in Shock
The local leader expressed, "We are in shock and dismayed", noting that he was unaware of the circumstances surrounding her death.
Emergency Response Details
José Santos, commander of the Vagos Fire Department, reported that an alert was received via 112 at 15:08 for "a victim in cardiorespiratory arrest".
"Upon our arrival, we found the victim's husband performing resuscitation maneuvers, and we continued until the medical vehicle arrived, which declared the death at the scene," said the commander.
Investigation Underway
The case has been handed over to the Judicial Police (PJ), according to the Territorial Command of the Republican National Guard (GNR) in Aveiro, which declined to provide further information. Attempts by Lusa to obtain clarifications from the PJ in Aveiro were unsuccessful.
Background of Susana Gravato
Susana Gravato, originally from Ílhavo, had lived in Gafanha da Vagueira, Vagos municipality, since she was six years old, as per her curriculum available on the municipal website. She held a law degree, practiced as a lawyer, and had been a member of the PSD since 1994. In 2009, she was elected as a municipal deputy for the Vagos Primeiro movement and was currently serving as a councilor in the outgoing executive (PSD), overseeing portfolios including environment, justice, general administration, social cohesion, and health.
