A vegetation fire broke out this Friday near a parking perimeter on Avenida Mouzinho de Albuquerque in Lisbon, with flames coming dangerously close to a PSP police station. The area, often used for dumping waste, became the scene of urgent firefighting efforts.
20 operational personnel and six vehicles from the Lisbon Fire Brigade were dispatched to the location following an alert at 16:50. The quick response aimed to prevent the fire from spreading further and causing more significant damage.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges of managing urban vegetation areas and the risks posed by illegal waste disposal. The proximity to a police station added a layer of urgency to the firefighting operations.
