Spanish Princess Sofia, the youngest daughter of Spain's King Felipe and Queen Letizia, is set to embark on an academic journey in Lisbon. She will study Political Science and International Relations at the Forward College, with its main European center located in the Portuguese capital. Starting this September, the 18-year-old infanta will move to Portugal, later continuing her studies in Paris and Berlin for the second and third years of her degree.
A Royal Academic Path
The course, reportedly costing around 18,500 euros annually, includes subjects like Political Science, Philosophy, History, and Business in the first year. Princess Sofia will reside in one of the university's own accommodations. Her choice to study abroad came with a condition: the destination had to be close enough to allow her to fulfill her institutional commitments. Lisbon, being just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Madrid by flight, perfectly fits this requirement.
Family Ties in Portugal
Adding a personal touch to her stay, Princess Sofia's grandfather, King Emeritus Juan Carlos, is expected to move to Cascais this summer. This means the young royal will have family support nearby during her time in Portugal.
